AS&T Mini-Triathlon The July 4th mini-tri had 5 participants: Mike, Ron, Joe, myself, and first-timer Jan! We were joined on the run by Talia. She and Ron ran farther than the rest of us. All three events took about an hour and a half and we did not count transition times! The swim was nice - we had the pool to ourselves. The bike was through the streets of Annandale and Springfield and there were lots of rolling hills. Americana Drive was especially fun, as always. Apparently these downhills did not compare to those of the Charlottesville Sprint Triathlon, according to Joe. We rode about 14 miles. The run was a short one at about 2.5 miles, but the final hill (uphill of course) was a killer. We ran a loop in Annandale from the AS&T parking lot, up Medford Drive to Annandale Road, took a short cut on Walton Lane over to Hummer, then took the turn that led to the nice finishing hill which brought us out basically behind McDonalds. All in all a good time and a fun way to start Independence Day. |
