Fiduccia Spring Biathlon
For many people, the spring biathlon is the first multi-sport
event of the year, and it is a good one to start with. The event itself is
quite simple-- a 525 yard pool swim, run out the back door of the pool and a
3.1 mile run. The run, as always, features a difficult winding hill run on
a horse trail for the middle portion of the race.
Beside the horse trail run, which has left many a first timer
moaning, the trademark of this event (a fund raiser for the Childhood Brain
Tumor Foundation) is the relaxed good spirit which is always present,
fostered by meet manager Gib Smith. There are a number of age group
swimmers trying the event, many relays, and alot of familiar faces. With
good food after the event, and many prize winners, it is a great first time
effort for someone who wants to try a multi sport event.
Ron, Danny, Ken, Joe, Talia and Maya all did the race.
Danny's performance was of particular note as he teamed with a ringer runner
from Stuart to win the male relay. Many of Danny's Stuart parents and
swimmers were there.
